 The holidays are upon us and before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving. This year is flying by! If you are new to Solomon we welcome you and hope you enjoy your time here on Oahu. 

A special Thank you to everyone who purchased a Halloween gram from the PTSO. Your children loved receiving the little message of love and pride along with the snack of pretzels ;)Thank you for supporting your school and your children.


Volunteer orientation is held every Monday in P-1 at 8:15 a.m.
***Volunteer orientation is required of EVERY volunteer at Solomon. ***


****If you can not make it to volunteer orientation day AND can not attend any other orientation offered every Monday during the school year. Please let us know. We understand if it is due to daily work or school commitments and we are more than happy to schedule a one on one orientation at a time that is convenient for both you and I.****
***If you took the volunteer orientation last year,  you do not have take it again this year. However you will need to update your paperwork with your current information for this year in order to be put on the list of approved volunteers for this year.

 
 *** If you are volunteering for the day anywhere on campus we recommend that you either bring your own snacks/lunch/drinks OR set up a lunch account in the front office to purchase a school lunch.



4th-8th Food drive for wheeler  food bank. Please drop off all donations to room P1 at Solomon elementary. Thank you for supporting our soldiers and their families.

the 5th annual PTSO Luau is tonight! 
Gate opens 5:30p.m. For all wristband holders for the dinner and show. 
Everyone else that is coming with a ticket for the show only, gate entrance will begin at 6p.m. 
Be prepared to have an amazing night out with your family at a very reasonable price.

1. Is the entertainment a bunch of untalented volunteers trying to put on a show?
***No, our entertainment is a professional halau with many movie and tv screen credits under their belts.
2. Is it open to everyone or just PTSO members?
***No, this event is OPEN TO EVERYONE in our community and school.
3. Can we bring our family?
***Yes, Bring your entire family! Well....everyone but the furbabies ;) sorry, they have to stay home.



5th PAWS STORE DAY,  If you would like to come volunteer at the paws store please come in. We can always use the help :) We need at least 2-3 volunteers from 9:30-10:00 and 4 volunteers from 11:40-1:05.

Local Veteran's day events.....

•Wahiawa Veterans Day Parade, 10 a.m., Nov. 11, in Wahiawa. The Wahiawa Lions Club conducts its 67th annual Veterans Day Parade, staring from Ka‘ala Elementary School and proceeding up California Avenue to the district park. More than 80 units are expected, including the 25th Infantry Division Band, Leilehua and Kalani high school bands, Kanani Oliveira Hula Studio and more.

•Oahu Veterans Council’s Veterans Day Memorial Ceremony, 10 a.m., Nov. 11, 2177 Puowaina Drive, Honolulu. U.S. Army-Pacific Soldiers participate in the OVC’s annual ceremony to honor veterans, past and present, for their dedicated service to their country.

•Mayor’s Veterans Day Ceremony, 10 a.m., the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl

•Governor’s Veterans Day Ceremony, 1 p.m., Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe.

•Arizona Memorial Veterans Day Sunset Ceremony, 4:30-5:30 p.m., Nov. 11. The USS Missouri Memorial Association salutes all veterans who selflessly defend our nation and freedom, with a special tribute to the living legacy of the Nisei Veterans of World War II. This event is free and open to the public, with advance registration; dress code is crisp aloha attire, summer whites or service equivalent. •U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii Special Hours, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Nov. 11. The Fort DeRussy museum is regularly closed on Mondays but will be open on Veterans Day to honor and thank all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

 Jack in the Box Offers Military Discounts at some locations.  Not all locations will participate by providing a Military Discount and it is given at the owner's discretion. Hooters has just put up a banner on their website’s homepage, that states “On Veterans Day Monday, Nov 11, get a free meal for all veterans and active duty military.  Restrictions apply.  See stores for details

Bed Bath and Beyond is offering veterans 20% off their entire purchase on 9-11 November 2013 for their U.S. Armed Forces Appreciation Weekend. This is good for active duty, DoD, reserves, guard, retirees, veterans, and military spouses.

Chili’s
Offering all military veterans past and present their choice of one of 7 meals. This offer is available from 11am – 5pm on November 11, 2013 at participating Chili’s in the U.S. only. Dine-in from limited menu only; beverages and gratuity not included. Veterans and active duty military simply show proof of military service.

Little Caesars Pizza is offering Free Crazy Bread on Monday, 11 November 2013Call to verify participation. Military ID or proof is required.

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt  is offering Free Yogurt, Monday, 11 November 2013Veterans and active duty personnel get a a free 6 oz. frozen yogurt. Show a valid ID or be in uniform to receive

Outback Steakhouse is offering a free Bloomin’ Onion and a Coca-Cola beverage on Monday, 11 November and Tuesday, 12 November 2013.  Military ID or proof is required. Outback Steakhouse is also offering receive a military discount of 10% everyday from November 13-December 31.

Amazon.com is offering a free Veterans Day Honor MP3 album download. The album includes 12 songs by The Bands and Ensembles of the U.S. Armed Forces.

13th domino's PTSO fundraiser day. It's easy and delicious! Just order anything off the menu at domino's anytime today. 10%of the days proceeds come back to the PTSO for the school.

27th Grades 3rd, 4th & 5th will have their annual TURKEY TROT from 1p.m.- 3p.m.
The winner is whomever comes closest to accurately guessing their time to run 4-5 laps around the field.
